My journey has been about unbecoming the person I was, to be who I am truly meant to be. I believed what saved me was a healthy diet, it is the core that I’ve hung on to since I was a teenager. My diet has always been pretty healthy even when the rest of me was not. It has taken me many years, quite a bit of vulnerability, a great deal of honesty and a fuck load of deep hard work to get to where I am today. The key has been finding my path, learning (and unlearning) so that I can be the person that I am today.
So here is the honest truth,
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona in a family that needed more than what it was ever going to have. I learned that wanting things was fruitless and made a choice to live with what I had. I had a mother that loved me and saw my potential before I, or anyone ever had the opportunity. When I was 20, she was killed by a drunk driver in a car accident. To say that this changed the course of my life is an understatement. I desperately grieved the loss of her for the next 15 years. Ironically, I turned to alcohol as my coping mechanism. For many years it was the only way I could find a moment of relief.
I heard her voice for years encouraging me to go back to school before I actually took her advice. I completed my Holistic Nutrition degree from Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, smack dab in between my mothers birthdate and death date. The very next day I let all that grief go and began to rebuild. In hindsight, I chose the most treacherous path, but hey it’s all about the journey and this was mine. The person I am today has learned how to value all the missteps and grow from them. I have found my path, learned how to walk through the hardships in my life, release the hold that alcohol had on me for many years and embrace all the amazing people in my life that encourage me to grow into the best version of myself. What I know to be true is that all of our paths are unique to us. My passion is to help you find your path, when you are ready, to health and wellness so you can be the person you were always meant to be.
I have been working with clients for a number of years. Walking with them as they find a better understanding of their dietary choices, rebuild the habits and patterns that influence those choices and establish practices and routines that impact their goals. I hope you’ll join us!
With a whole lotta heart,
Britt
